NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY RANK 23 IN NIGERIA
An international institute reputed for ranking universities across the globe, Webometric of Spain, has rated National Open University Of Nigeria , Top 23 University in Nigeria And 193 in Africa.
A release by the Public Relations Officer of NOUN stated that body rated the curricular, research, academic and general administration of the university as the best in Nigeria. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, described the rating as unprecedented, adding that it was the first time in the history of university education in Africa where a Nigerian university would be adjudged and rated the best.
Tenebe emphasised the need for all private sectors to urgently partner with government in providing enough financial and material resources to meet the needs of universities in the country, particularly in the provision of structural and infrastructural facilities. The vice-chancellor lauded the dedication to duty of all academic and administrative staff whose personal and group sacrifice had made the new ranking a possibility. “We will continue to provide the needed leadership to all and sundry. Also, the training and retraining of staff both locally and internationally, will always be our priority,” he added. Tenebe said he would not be satisfied until the institution became the first and the best university in Africa. He, therefore, called on all stakeholders in the nation’s education sector to ensure that policies that were appropriate for the socio-economic needs of the country were formulated for entrepreneurship agendum.
